Scratchboard

Scratchboard is a form of engraving that produces amazing detail, especially in animals. It is started with a board covered by a thin layer of clay, covered again by a layer of black ink. The ink is scratched away with a sharp tool or knife. The exposed clay can be colored or left in black and white.
